Difference between Thermofoil and Laminate?
Thermofoil is a surface finish made from a plastic material. This material is heated and molded onto medium-density fiberboard (MDF), which is a combination of sawdust, wax, and resin compressed under high heat and pressure to form durable panels. Thermofoil provides MDF with a seamless, stain-resistant coating that is both durable and easy to clean. It is a versatile laminate available in a wide range of colors.
Thermofoil v.s Laminate
Laminate is a type of surfacing material made by soaking decorative paper in resin and partially drying it. Once the drying process begins, the material is placed onto MDF and fused together using heat and pressure. In general terms, a “substrate” refers to any underlying surface, but in home renovations, it typically refers to the stable layer directly beneath the decorative finish—usually MDF. After lamination, the panels are cut to the desired door sizes and edge-banded for a finished look.
Compared to laminate, thermofoil is less likely to peel over time, more durable, and easier to clean.
What is the most popular cabinet surface material right now?
Most customers choose either thermofoil or painted MDF for their cabinet surfaces. Among the two, thermofoil is the more popular choice. One of its biggest advantages is that it is easier to clean. In addition to enhancing the surface of MDF, thermofoil is a non-porous material, which means it doesn’t absorb liquids like plywood or natural wood might. For example, if cranberry juice spills on your cabinets, there’s no need to worry about stains — it can be wiped off immediately!
What's the lead time from production to installation?
On average, we are able to deliver and install the product within two to four weeks after the order is confirmed.
While many businesses experienced supply chain and staffing challenges during the pandemic, we were fortunate to maintain timely delivery. Because we manufacture our own cabinets and have our own installation team, we are able to maintain better control over timelines and scheduling—ensuring that our customers’ plans are not disrupted.
Order Process
We are committed to providing a stress-free renovation process from start to finish, ensuring that any questions or concerns you may have are addressed promptly.

Customer Review

Mike and the Legacy team are very professional. Their advice was sincere, the design was practical, and the quality was excellent—especially the smooth and solid feel of every drawer.
We had just purchased a new home and wanted to renovate the kitchen quickly after taking possession. They managed to complete everything—from production to installation—within three weeks. We are very satisfied.

We took a long time before finally deciding to renovate our kitchen, and I’m truly grateful for Mike’s team, who patiently guided us through the entire process.
Updating a kitchen is no small task, but their team was incredibly considerate and managed everything without disrupting our daily life at all.

We requested quotes from many cabinet manufacturers, and Legacy came across as the most reliable and professional.
Although their pricing wasn’t the lowest, it was very reasonable and fair. We were especially impressed with their installation team—the craftsmen worked hard and were very meticulous. Nice!
